FAQ About Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

+

Dental implants are small titanium posts placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They act as artificial tooth roots and are topped with a crown that looks and functions like a natural tooth.

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

+

With proper care—brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits—implants can last 20+ years and often a lifetime. The crown may eventually need replacement due to normal wear.

Does getting a dental implant hurt?

+

Most patients say the procedure is more comfortable than expected. Local anesthesia is used, and sedation options are available. Afterward, mild soreness can be managed with over-the-counter medication.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

+

If you have one or more missing teeth, good overall health, and sufficient bone in your jaw, you may be a great candidate. Even if bone loss has occurred, bone grafting can often make implants possible.

How long does the implant process take?

+

The timeline varies. For many patients, it takes 3–6 months from start to finish, including healing time. Some cases can be completed more quickly, depending on your needs.

Are dental implants expensive?

+

Implants are an investment in your long-term health and confidence. While they may cost more upfront than dentures or bridges, they are more durable and help prevent future dental problems. Flexible payment options are available.

How do I take care of my implants?

+

Implants should be cared for just like natural teeth—daily brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings. This helps ensure they remain strong and healthy.

What if I’ve been missing teeth for years?

+

Even if you’ve had missing teeth for a long time, implants may still be an option. A consultation with 3D imaging will show if bone grafting or other preparatory treatments are needed first.
