COVER SMILES FLAWS WITH PORCELAIN VENEERS IN SAN ANTONIO

Cosmetic dentistry is like the reset button for a smile with imperfections. One of the most popular treatments that San Antonio cosmetic dentist Dr. Zamora offers is porcelain veneers. And it’s no wonder why. Veneers are beautiful and strong coverings designed to transform the appearance of teeth so you can have a smile that is truly beautiful. After only two appointments, you’ll say goodbye to the flaws in your smile and hello to white, well shaped teeth.

What Exactly Are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are paper-thin layers of dental porcelain or composite resin material that are adhesively bonded to teeth that show most prominently when you smile. Dr. Zamora designs each one to look natural. She not only considers the proper size and shape for each tooth, but also your unique facial features and even your complexion.

What Can Porcelain Veneers Correct?

Veneers are intended to correct any number of cosmetic flaws in your smile. These include:

  • Teeth that are chipped, cracked or broken
  • Unevenly worn teeth
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth
  • Teeth that are misshaped or too small
  • Wide gaps between teeth
  • Moderately rotated or crooked teeth

Keep in mind, we don’t need to cover all of your teeth with veneers. If only a couple of your teeth need correcting, then Dr. Zamora can specify veneers for just those. The veneers will blend in seamlessly with the size, shape and color of nearby teeth.

The Porcelain Veneers Process

The process for receiving veneers usually requires scheduling just two appointments at Zam Dental. The first appointment is when Dr. Zamora gathers important information about your teeth, your smile and what you want to change. X-rays, photos and impressions help her to create veneers that look completely natural and fit comfortably.

Your teeth will be prepped at this visit, too. A slim layer of tooth enamel is removed in order to make room for the veneers. Once this step is completed, we'll place a temporary set of veneers. Wearing these not only protects teeth that no longer have the hard coating of enamel, but they also give you some time to adjust to the feeling of veneers in your mouth.

In about two weeks, your customized porcelain veneers arrive in our office. Dr. Zamora will confirm the size and shape of each one before permanently bonding them to your teeth.

How to Care for Your Porcelain Veneers

Oral hygiene continues to be very important when you have porcelain veneers. Brush and floss daily. Use a soft toothbrush and mild fluoride toothpaste to avoid scratching the surface of your veneers. And don’t forget to maintain a schedule of dental checkups every six months to ensure your dental health and the longevity of your porcelain veneers.
